Malignant Mesothelioma - Prognostic Factors

Median survival of patients with MM from time of
diagnosis is approx 12 months.

Worse prognosis in the following pts:

1. Male
2. Those with extensive diseases
3. Poor performance status
4. Elevated white-cell counts, Anemia,
Thrombocytosis
5. Sarcomatoid histologic findings
6. Expresssion of certain biochemical
markers(VEGF), evidence of SV40 virus in the
tumor
